Dear families,

As we reach the end of another school year, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on what an eventful and truly rewarding year it has been at Roding. I recently shared a letter with many of our key achievements, but I couldn’t let the final week pass without thanking you again for your continued support and celebrating just how far we’ve come together.

Our pupils and staff have wholeheartedly embraced our school values, which have become the foundation of everything we do. From kindness and curiosity to resilience and respect, these values shine through in our classrooms, corridors, and playgrounds every single day. The impact on our school culture has been nothing short of inspiring.

One of the highlights this year was our record-breaking Phonics Screening Check results—an incredible 88% of Year 1 pupils passed! This is the highest result we’ve ever achieved, and it reflects the hard work of our staff and the dedication of our children and their families. What a team effort!

In a moment, we will be introducing you to our newly redesigned school logo, which reflects both our proud history and our bright future.

This year has also been filled with magical moments. Our singing festivals were a particular highlight, leaving not a dry eye in the house! The joy, talent, and confidence our children displayed made us all incredibly proud.

As we look ahead, we must also say a few goodbyes. Our Year 6 pupils are moving on to their next chapter, and what a brilliant group they have been. They’ve shown maturity, leadership, and compassion, and we know they will continue to thrive in their secondary schools.

We also bid farewell to two members of staff. Mrs Man, who retires after nearly 26 years of service, has been a cornerstone of our school community, most recently leading our Deaf Provision with passion and expertise. Her commitment and care have made a lasting impact on countless children and families. We also thank Mr Hall, who worked with us temporarily in Year 4. Though his time at Roding was short, his presence was very much appreciated by pupils and staff alike.

Looking ahead, we have plenty to be excited about. Our Events Calendar for the Autumn Term will be shared with you shortly, packed with performances, workshops, and opportunities to come together as a school community. Be sure to keep an eye out for it.

Finally, a reminder that we return to school at 8:30am on Wednesday 3rd September. Until then, I wish you all a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer break. Thank you once again for your ongoing support, encouragement, and partnership—it means the world to us.

Warmest wishes,

Ms M Nwankiti

Headteacher

Roding is moving to Arbor

We are excited to announce that we will be moving our management information system (MIS) from Integris to Arbor. A Management Information System is where we store all the information we hold about your child. For example, their date of birth, parent contact details and address.

This change does need to happen as our current Management Information System is being phased out and will cease to exist very soon. That being said, there will be notable benefits to our staff and operations, making processes smoother and more efficient. We are confident that these improvements will extend to parents and carers once the Arbor Parent Portal is fully introduced. This new system is designed to save time and reduce the number of platforms you need to use, while giving you more insight into your child’s school life. We believe that this change will benefit both staff and parents/carers by offering a more unified and transparent system.

From the Autumn term we will be transitioning all payments and communications from ParentMail and Parent Portal to Arbor. Arbor will allow parents and carers to manage their child’s account through a single platform, making it easier to access important information, make payments, and communicate with the school.

Currently, you do not need to do anything. We will contact you in the Autumn term about next steps.

We are confident that Arbor will make managing school-related payments and communication more convenient for everyone. Kind regards

Roding's Redesigned School Logo

We would like to extend a big thank you to all the families and staff who took the time to vote for our newly redesigned school logo. The votes were incredibly close, which shows just how much thought and care everyone put into the decision.

We are excited to reveal that the winning design is shown below!

When redesigning the logo, it was important to us that it reflected the values and identity of Roding. The updated design proudly retains key elements that are meaningful to our school community, including the river and trees.

Please note: there will be no change to the school uniform at this time, so you can continue to purchase uniform items as normal. Any changes in the future will be phased in gradually and there will be no requirement for parents to purchase new uniform.

Thank you again for your involvement and support. Your voice truly helped shape the future look of Roding!

Year 6 Football Team - 2nd Place!

Shalom’s Crocheting Success! 🧶

We are incredibly proud of Shalom, who has taught herself how to crochet after being inspired by Mrs Schneider, who was knitting with a small group of children in school. Rather than take up knitting, Shalom decided she wanted to learn crochet and asked her mum to buy her a set of crochet needles.

Since February, Shalom has been practising regularly, using YouTube videos to guide her learning. Remarkably, she is entirely self-taught — and the progress she has made in just a few months is nothing short of amazing!

All of us at Roding are beyond impressed with the level of skill and creativity she has developed. Shalom’s achievement is a brilliant example of what passion, perseverance, and self-motivation can lead to. Well done, Shalom — we can’t wait to see what you create next!

Sew Impressive, Year 3!

A huge well done to our amazing Year 3 pupils, who have been learning how to sew this term. As part of their work inspired by Africa, they created beautiful mini pillows featuring elephants.

The children carefully selected soft fabrics and practised their stitching skills to bring their designs to life. We were so impressed with their patience, creativity, and attention to detail.

Fantastic work, Year 3 — your pillows look incredible, and you've picked up a brilliant new skill along the way!

We know mornings and afternoons can be busy, and getting your child to and from school is a priority. However, we must emphasise the importance of being considerate to our neighbours.

We urgently ask all parents and carers to avoid blocking driveways, obstructing pathways, or double parking. These actions create congestion, pose safety risks, and cause frustration for other road users and residents.

Additionally, please remember that the school car park is strictly off-limits for parents and carers. This includes after school when collecting your child from a club.

For everyone’s safety, children should never be in the car park or use it as a walkway.

Parking responsibly is essential for keeping our streets safe and accessible, especially for our youngest learners.

Whenever possible, consider walking, biking, or using public transport to reduce traffic and promote healthy habits for your child.

Let’s work together to ensure a safe and smooth drop-off and pick-up experience for everyone, while maintaining positive relationships with our neighbours.

Thank you for your cooperation and for being a valued part of our school community.
