DISCOVER

Today RP and RD have spent a lovely morning making up stories and exploring the Discover centre in Stratford.  We first met Hooter (the space monster)  who was lost and needed help to collect stories to send him back home.  We all had a fantastic time

RD class assembly

I would just like to say a big thank-you to all of the parents for coming to see the RD class assembly today.

I was so proud of all of the children, they did a fantastic job. Thank-you RD!

Welcome Back

We hope that you had a great Easter break and didn’t eat too much chocolate.

We have had a great first week back at school and have been sharing our holiday news. It sounds like everybody had a fantastic holiday!

Well done to Tommy Huke in RD who has filled his Silver Star Chart and had to visit Mr Alderton for a special sticker:

MINI BEAST HUNT

This week we have been busy looking for mini beast in the environment.

We had to be careful and gentle.  We found a slug, worm, woodlouse and millipede. We drew pictures of what we had found and tried to label them.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

This week we are learning about the life cycle of butterflies.  We have been reading ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ to help us.   We have been busy practising our handwriting and trying to write our own books.  In the computer room we have been making a front cover for our story’s.

We are retelling the story using these pictures ….. would you like us to tell it to you?

Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell

This week we have been reading a story about Norman, the slug who wants to be a snail.

We have been using our ICT and creative skills to make a shell for Norman, and have made our own snails out of clay.

We are going to name our snails and think about what adventures they will go on.

Fun in the snow!

Today there was lots of snow on the ground after the weekend of winter weather. We couldn’t wait to get outside and start playing in it..

We had a huge snowball fight and enjoyed hitting the teachers with giant snowballs.

We built a snowman. We named our snowman Harry-James. Isn’t he gorgeous!!!

KUNG HEI FAT CHOY - HAPPY NEW YEAR

This week we have been celebrating Chinese New Year.  We have made a dragon dance and played music as we followed him around the playground.

We have also been role playing a Chinese Restaurant using real money.  We had to add up the pennies and put them in the till.

DINOSAURS - TREMBLE AND ROAR

This half term the children will be learning about Dinosaurs.  This week we have been measuring dinosaurs, drawing and writing about our own dinosaurs and finding out lots of interesting facts.

What do you know about Dinosaurs?

Christmas Dinner and our Nativity Show

This week we have started to learn about Christmas. We have spoken about the Nativity Story and Father Christmas.

It has been a very exciting week with lots of things to do. We have been making Christmas cards, wrapping paper, paper chains and even a special Christmas present for all of the mummies and daddies that we are keeping a surprise!!!

Thursday was a very exciting day- It was Christmas dinner day and we got to wear special party hats and listen to Christmas music whilst eating our lunch; even the teachers joined in!

On Friday afternoon we all became superstars and performed our Nativity Play to our parents. We have practised for weeks and loved learning all of the songs and the signs to go with them.

The Early Years Team were so proud of the children today. We would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the parents for all of the lovely costumes that were sent in; and also for being such a great audience.

We still have lots of Christmas fun to look forward to next week, including our Christmas party on Thursday afternoon.
